Being a camp counselor is a lot of fun - and it's also a great responsibility. Participants will have a special training program where they will learn about being a counselor and work on developing skills necessary to be an effective leader. Additionally, participants will receive instruction in teaching techniques, camping skills, human relations and child development. Those who commit to the training program will discover a lot about themselves and their leadership potential.
Applicants who have completed the 9th grade as of the 14-15 school year are eligible to apply. They also must be able to attend the entire two week session they apply for due to the limited space available at the program.
The CIT program takes place in conjunction with the Camp Lakeshore program. It costs $195 per two week session ($225 for non-residents). This pays for our camp staff time, supplies, First Aid & CPR Training, a special Camp Lakeshore shirt, and a trip at the conclusion of the program to Cedar Point on Saturday, August 22. CITs will not travel on weekly field trips during the actual camp year. It is important to make sure the applicant is available for all the requested sessions. The applicant will rank the sessions they are available on the application with "1" being their top choice and "5" being their last choice if they are interested in all 5 sessions.
Group interviews will take place on Wednesday, June 10. We will contact you on Monday, June 8 via email to let you know if you will be a part of the group interview. Space is limited and not everyone who applies will be accepted into the CIT program.
